The meeting was attended by 22 participants including the counterparts from 13 Member States of Latin America and Caribbean Region:Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay. Given the travel restrictions posed by the COV1D-19 pandemic, the meeting was held virtually. The counterparts fulfilled the objectives of the meeting by presenting the progress made and the challenges they faced at national and regional levels on integrating the sterile insect technique(SIT)with other control methods to supress Aedes mosquitoes, which are the vectors of major arboviruses, such as dengue and Zika.
