摘要

Following a brief period in hospital, Dave Wall, a founding director of North Birmingham Busways, has died at the age of 74. Wall's career in public transport started when the family moved to Bournemouth in the early 60's and he took up employment with Bournemouth Corporation as a junior clerk in the traffic office, becoming a conductor on his 17th birthday. This embedded his lifelong interest in trolleybuses, a form of transport he felt should still return with technology moving on since their first incarnation. Moving back to Birmingham in 1966, Wall became a schedules clerk with Birmingham City Transport at its Congreve Street offices. He moved to Walsall as a scheduler with West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive in 1971 and here he was allowed to also drive to earn additional overtime, something frowned upon for office staff pre-PTE. Promotion saw him move to Perry Barr depot, just after deregulation in 1986, where he spent the rest of his career until made redundant in 1993.
