The March issue of Nuclear News each year is traditionally our Reference Issue, and 2022 marks our 24th consecutive year publishing this up-to-date wealth of information on the world's commercial power reactor fleet. The reference section is centered on the World List of Nuclear Power Plants (p. 41), featuring data on power reactors under operation and forthcoming. Also included are maps as well as data tables, license renewal and expiration information, and a list of power reactors retired from service. All NN staffers have had a hand in the labor-intensive task of putting the reference section together. For that I am grateful. The staffers have also pointed out to me several highlights from this year's World List, as follows: Six new reactors-all gigawatt-scale pressurized water reactors-entered commercial operation during 2021, adding 6,596 net MWe of combined capacity. Belarus, Pakistan, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates each added a single unit, while China added two. Another six reactors achieved criticality, but not commercial operation, by the end of 2021: China's Fuqing-6 (a 1,000-MWe PWR) and HTR-PM (a 200-MWe gas-cooled reactor), Finland's Olkiluoto-3 (a 1,600-MWe PWR), India's Kakrapar-3 (a 630-MWe pressurized heavy water reactor), Slovakia's Mochovce-3 (a 440-MWe PWR), and the UAE's Barakah-2 (a 1,345-MWe PWR).
