The Home Fashion Products Association (HFPA) is reinvigorating its scholarship program this month with a new industry event that supports the next generation of home textiles innovators. The scholarship fundraiser party will take place Tuesday, Sept. 20 at The Harvard Club of New York, beginning at 5:30 p.m. In addition to a silent auction, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, the event will include recognition of HTT's 2022 Trailblazers & Titans honorees: Lowe's, At Home, 1888 Mills and Triangle Home Fashions. The HFPA Foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 200 students enrolled in surface design or home product marketing courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and, more recently, Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. The fund was created more than two decades ago by the late Carl Goldstein, long-time senior executive at S. Lichtenberg. He was on the board of FIT at the time, and for many years, the HFPA scholarship project was primarily endowed by the Lichtenberg and Goldstein families. Goldstein ran the program until his death in 2013, when he was succeeded by his son, Scott Goldstein.
