The present report employed the hydrothermal method to synthesize the cobalt tungstate (CoWO4) nanoparticles (NPs). The Rietveld refinement, Raman, XPS and FTIR spectroscopy study suggest the pure phase formation of the wolframite-type monoclinic crystal structure of CoWO4 NPs. Surface morphological images reveal uniform nanostructured flower-like morphology. The cyclic voltammogram reveals that the CoWO4-based electrode material shows a specific capacitance (Csp) of 571 F/g, while GCD exhibits a specific capacitance (Csp) of 712 F/g. The electrode material possesses an internal resistance of 0.92 omega. The coulombic efficiency of the CWO-based electrode is 95.50 %. Furthermore, a capacity retention of 84.2 % was retained over 5000 charge-discharge cycles.
