摘要

Abstract Stress analysis of Late Cretaceous to Miocene rocks from the central part of Azarbaijan Province in the southern parts of the Iran?Armenia?Nakhijavan Republic borders, carried out. The geodynamics and geological history of this part of Iranian territory show a great difference between neighboring structural zones of Alborz range, Central Iran and the Zagros orogenic belt. These differences on lithology, sedimentary environments and stress field are mostly important during Middle-Late Jurassic, Early-Late Cretaceous and Eocene. Based on the data from geometric and kinematic characteristics of fault planes, it is concluded that field of stress changed by block rotation in the Late Cretaceous?Miocene. The orientation of maximum principal stresses are N234, N330 and N224 respectively in Late Cretaceous, Early-Middle Eocene, and Miocene. Using inversion method for calculation of paleostress tensor by Win-Tensor software shows the geodynamic history differences of this area with other structural zones of Iran.
