Does the internet really deliver?

People using the internet need to do so with their eyes wide open - ever on the lookout for schemes, scams and sales pitches which may not be all they seem. I recently received the following message via an email: "The most Powerful and RevolutionaryIncome Concept Ever! No experience required...all you need to do is enrol. You are guaranteed a check every month reaching US2000 dollar...Act now...no recruiting... no selling...no inventory." This really looks like money for nothing! It sounds too good to be true - and it probably is! Many managers and their families may have read their regional newspapers and some rural weeklies and noticed ads similar to this offering great rewards. Nowadays, the internet is becoming the latest vehicle for promoting genuine and questionable income raising opportunities. When it comes to conducting business on the internet, what do we as managers expect? What are we promised? What are we delivered?
