Bio-feedstocks offer a clear route to meeting the challenging targets of transitioning away from the use of fossil-based elastomers in many applications. Options in this still emerging area of technology range from the use of plant-derived substances, such as methanol, for the production of monomers to the use of bio-based fillers, oils and other additives in rubber compounds.
