摘要

Wild species related to agricultural crops may increase the adaptive capacity of agricultural systems worldwide. They represent a large pool of genetic diversity for drawing new allelic variation in breeding programs. Crop wild relatives have been an extremely valuable source of novel alleles for economic traits which when transferred to cultivated species adapt well to changing biotic stress, farming practices, market demands, and climatic conditions. The present study was conducted using 79 wild pigeonpea accessions belonging to three distinct genera viz., Cajanus , Rhynchosia , and Flemingia . These were grown in wilt sick field at ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR), Kanpur, India during Kharif , 2016–17, 2017–18 and 2018–19 for identifying the durable resistant sources against wilt caused by Fusarium udum (Race-2) for further use in the resistant breeding program. On the basis of pathogenicity and molecular characterization (MW341594), the pathogen was confirmed as F. udum (Race-2) isolated from wilted plants. Among the 35 resistant accessions, 24 belong to the primary gene pool of Cajanus , and 11 were from the tertiary genera Rhynchosia . Eleven accessions were moderately resistant, 14 showed susceptibility, and 19 exhibited highly susceptible reactions against wilt disease.
