Bitcoin miners flocking to Texas are claiming that their operationsare helping the grid add off-peak load capacities that are helpingrenewable energy projects find more profitability in the ElectricReliability Council of Texas, miners said during the ERCOT MarketSummit 2023.The emergence of crypto mining in Texas has coincided witha rise of renewable generation projects, and both industriescropping up in remote regions of West Texas. From this, asymbiotic relationship has formed between the two—whilerenewable energy generation rises and falls with weatherpatterns, mining facilities can flexibly ramp up or ramp downtheir operations according to the real-time availability of cheaprenewable energy.
