Zahar Bod, a 133-old sugar factory in Romania, will resume production in 2023 after it was taken over by local group Best Achizitii following prolonged insolvency procedures, according to local press reports. The factory was closed in 2018 and declared bankrupt after another 7 years in which it was insolvent. The new owners have already begun negotiations to seal precontracting for next year's beet production from farmers. "We bought 60% of everything the Bod sugar factory meant - land, housing for employees, dispensary - and we are going to close the process, buying everything the liquidator will put up for sale. We met with 80 farmers, beet growers to discuss the contracts for the current agricultural year", said Mihaela Neagu - general director of Best Achizitii SRL.
