Selecting the right vantage point has always been an important skill for engineers. The coordinate system shown in Figure 1 provides three different ways to look at a signal. In many cases, problems that are extremely difficult in one of the spaces are very easy in another. In the case of OpenSCAD, the situation is by and large similar. Many objects, such as the vase-like object shown in the lead-in photo of this article, are almost impossible to model in three-dimensional space. Falling back to two-dimensional space, the problem becomes simpler.
