Hansel & Gretel Candy Kitchen owner, David Jones, passed away January 10 after a brief illness. He was 75. After returning home from the Army in 1970, Jones worked for a time at Prudential in Atlanta, where he would meet his future wife, Janet. In 1973, they moved to Helen, Georgia, and within a few weeks, opened the Hansel and Gretel Candy Kitchen store, which remains in operation today. Jones was involved in numerous Helen community activities, including Oktoberfest and the Fasching Festival. In 2005, he authored a book entitled, Candy Making for Dummies. Jones is survived by his wife Janet, daughters Andrea Colette Jones and Diana Nicole Jones Reis, and numerous other relatives, including four grandchildren.
