SURROUNDED by tomato, cucumber and sweet pepper nurseries, in a total glass area of around 100ha, the location on the outskirts of the Dutch village of Ijsselmuiden is roughly in the middle of a triangle between the towns of Lelystad, Zwolle and Emmeloord.Known locally as the Koekoeks Polder, the Vahl family has always been located here and currently operates out of five greenhouses (largest 3ha). As well as the Dutch site, which includes a 2.5ha organic nursery, the family also has 4.6ha of greenhouses at Brandenburg in Germany. A joint project with two German shareholders, this nursery supplies the local market in and around Berlin.
