As we continue to monitor the construction sector for response to increasing interest rates, indicators are still mixed. Last month we noted that the release of the April Architectural Billings Index from the American Institute of Architects was scheduled after our Report on May 24 th . For April, the ABI returned to contraction territory at 48.5 from March’s reading of 50.4. The Design Contracts Index, a step ahead in the process, improved to 49.8 but remained in contraction.
