Half a century ago Evgeny Chazov met Bernard Lown, who stood with him for the creation of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW). They both developed a deep understanding of many things in this life and symbolically left it one after the other. At that time at the inception of IPPNW it was unbelievable that their dream would be fulfilled on July 2017, when the UN General Assembly voted for the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty, which has now entered into force. And these two giants helped facilitate the first steps of this process.
