The samples illustrated in this book are a tour de force of garter stitch knitting coupled with ingenuity and colour. No wonder 21 knitters are credited with the results. The area covered by the 30 stunning hand-knitted blankets is vast. Many of the ideas will be familiar to patchwork aficionados. There are curves and straight lines, squares, triangles and hexagons, repeating patterns and single motifs, no-sew and pieced designs. All are worked in garter stitch with, in some cases, ingenious shaping. Every time I opened the book I met another stunning idea. This is definitely a book for the confident and not-too-slow (but not necessarily advanced) knitter: maybe someone who is looking for a way to use a large quantity of hand-dyed yarn of a similar weight but numerous colours. Or someone who wants a project that can be made in easily-transported units. A particularly attractive feature of the book is a Venn diagram of techniques.
