Nearly 37,000 cases of COVID-19 suspected of being caused by occupational exposure to the SARS-C0V-2 virus were reported under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR) between 10 April 2020 and 23 October 202V. These include 417 death notifications, 288 of which were in the health and social care sector. There were 2,289 reports and 12 deaths reported between 25 July 2021 and 23 October 2021. There were 796 reports including six deaths, in September 2021. The figures peaked in January 2021 when 5,710 COVID-19 cases, including 51 deaths, were reported under RIDDOR to the HSE and local authorities. The highest number of reports in the first wave of the disease was recorded in May 2020, when 3,793 notifications were recorded, including 57 deaths.
