摘要

In this investigation, an oblique laminar-turbulent Couette flow of an electrically conducting fluid is presented due to pure shear flows. A transverse magnetic field is applied normal to the channel. The novelty of this investigation is to calculate the distribution of time average velocity u(y) of the turbulent flow from laminar to turbulent transition in Couette flow under the application of magnetic drag force. The upper plate moves parallel to the lower plate with constant velocity. The current study of turbulent flow plays an important role for large values of the Reynolds number (Re) in presence of buoyancy / Lorentz force/Karman effect. Throughout the study we have discussed the behaviour of the flow velocity, rate of mass transfer flow and Frictional shear stress for the higher (Rc > 2500) and lower (Re 2500, the velocity is accelerated and same behaviour is observed for the frictional shear stress. The laminar/turbulent transition of wall-bounded shear flows is responsible for increase in skin-friction drag for a wide variety of industrial applications and it is important in lubrication, polymer and food processing.
