Effect of weed management practices on growth parameters, yield and economics of clusterbean Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub

A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Farm, S.K.N. College of Agriculture, Jobner, Jaipur (Rajasthan) during kharif season of 2018 to study the effect of weed management practices on growth parameters, yield and economics of clusterbean. The experiment comprised of 9 treatments i.e. unweeded control, one hand weeding at 25 DAS, two hand weedings at 25 and 45 DAS, pendimethalin @ 750 g a.i./ha (PE), imazethapyr @ 75 g a.i./ha (PoE), quizalofop-p- ethyl@ 37.5 g a.i./ha (PoE), pendimethalin @ 750g a.i./ha (PE) + quizalofop-p-ethyl@ 37.5 g a.i./ha (PoE), pendimethalin @ 750 g a.i./ha (PE) + imazethapyr @ 75 g a.i./ha (PoE), pendimethalin 30 EC + imazethapyr 2 EC (RM) (VALOR 32) @ 750 g a.i./ha as pre- emergence was laid out in randomized block design and replicated thrice. The results showed that weed management practices markedly reduced crop-weed competition. Treatment two hand weedings at 25 and 45 DAS was found significantly superior to treatment weedy check (Wl) and single herbicide applied treatments and one han,d weeding at 25 DAS, but it was found at par with treatment pendimethalin @ 750 g a.i./ha (PE) + Imazethapyr @ 75 g a.i./ha (PoE), pendimethalin (PE) @ 750 g a.i./ha + quizalofop-p-ethyl @ 37.5 g a.i./ha (PoE), pendimethalin 30 EC + imazethapyr 2 EC (RM) (VALOR 32) @ 750 g a.i./ha as (PE) with respect to growth attributes (plant height, dry matter accumulation etc.), yield,attributes (number of pods/ plant, weight of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod) and yield (grain, stover andbiological yields). The weed control measures pendimethalin @ 750 g a.i./ha (PE), imazethapyr @ 75 g a.i./ha (PoE), quizalofop-p-ethyl@ 37.5 g a.i./ha (PoE) and one hand weeding at 25 DAS were found at par with each other and superior to weedy check treatment. Among the weed control treatments, significantly maximum net returns (T54920/ha) and B:C ratio (3.17) was achieved with pendimethalin @ 750 g a.i./ha (PE) + imazethapyr @ 75 g a.i./ha (PoE) treatment which was closely followed by two hand weedingat 25 and 45 DAS with net returns (T54608/ha) and B:C (3.09) ratio over rest of the treatment.
