THE Cidade de Anchieta floating production, storage and offloading vessel is expected to resume operation at the Parque das Baleias field this year after a shutdown followed an apparent oil tank leak in January. According to Dutch floater specialist SBM Offshore, which operates the unit for Petrobras offshore Brazil, tank inspection and repair work at the floater is progressing. SBM interrupted operations at the Cidade de Anchieta FPSO on 22 January following the observation of oil in the water near the vessel. Anti-pollution measures were immediately taken, but repairs were required, as the estimated volume of oil released into the ocean amounted to 191 cubic metres. "The company's priority is the safe restart of the vessel at full production, which is expected by the year-end. The focus of activities to date has been on the repair of the four tanks required for the safe restart of the vessel," SBM said in a recent third-quarter earnings update.
