A Year after the Taliban Came to Power: The Main Challenges for Russia and the United States in Afghanistan

The fall of A. Ghani's regime has not become a military-strategic defeat for the United States. It maintains its positions both in Afghanistan and in Central Asia. Washington has retained leverage over the Taliban, and no rival power in Afghanistan will fill the vacuum. But the United States faces a similar set of challenges in Afghanistan as Russia. In the response to them both countries can exchange information as well as coordinate their efforts in part in certain areas.
