摘要

Acoustic signals are predominant in adult communication on anurans. These signals play an important role in several aspects of its biology like mate attraction, competitor interactions, and species recognition (Gerhardt & Huber 2002, Wells & Schwartz 2007, Bradbury & Vehrencamp 2011). Differences in advertisement call in anurans are usually interpreted as evidence of lineage divergence and, therefore, they are widely used in taxonomy and systematics to differentiate species (K?hler et al. 2017; Padial et al. 2008). Acquiring a better knowledge on this natural history trait may help conduct studies on ecology, evolution, taxonomy, and biogeography. The advertisement call of anurans allows individual detection and species recognition, which may also be a proxy of abundance as well as diurnal and seasonal activity patterns (K?hler et al. 2017), which in turn is useful information for anuran conservation and monitoring initiatives. Acoustic activity and adverstivement call data are particularly valuable in the Neotropics, where half of the amphibian species of the world occurs (Jenkins et al. 2013) and some of the most dramatic population declines and extinction of anuran species during recent decades have been reported (Myers et al. 2000; Hoffman et al. 2020).
