Oxaliplatin-lnduced Rather Than Taxane-lnduced Pneumonitis Was Responsive to Etanercept

To the Editor: The case report by Singavi et al published in Journal of Oncology Practice entitled "Etanercept for Treatment of Taxane-lnduced Pneumonitis" reported on lung injury in patients treated with taxane, similar to our recent challenging experiences with a fatal oxaliplatin pneumonitis and a prolonged, although steroid responsive, paclitaxel pneumonitis. We suspect that oxaliplatin, rather than paclitaxel, may have precipitated this case of pneumonitis, given its severity and because its onset closely followed completion of induction treatment with oxaliplatin (and fluorouracil).
