Key Republicans in the US Senate are urging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to hold a series of technical conferences to analyze the electric reliability impacts of the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed climate rules for power plants. “The proposed Clean Power Plan 2.0 appears to pose a significant threat to the remaining dispatchable fleet when the nation can afford it the least,” Senators John Barrasso, Republican-Wyoming, and Shelley Moore Capito, Republican- West Virginia, said in a June 30 letter that the senators released July 5.
