Researchers have recommended reclassifying first-generation sedating antihistamines as a prescription-only medicine (POM), citing an increase in the number of deaths involving these drugs. A team of researchers at King’s College London studied drug-related deaths reported to the National Programme on Substance Abuse Deaths (NPSAD) in England between 1999 and 2019.
