摘要

AI for everyone? Before even opening Pieter Verdegem’s edited bookAI for Everyone? Critical Perspectives , we likely have a sense of theanswer: an assertive “NO.” Yet, despite the swell of critique in recentyears, “artificial intelligence” persists as a fantastical universalsolution. From fighting climate change to scheduling meetings, weare inundated with slippery definitions and empty promises of whatexactly AI is and what it can do. In response, AI for Everyone? bringstogether scholars from communications, computing, media studies, law, and visual art for a cross-disciplinary analysis of artificialintelligence (whatever it is) and its histories, discourses, and systems. The book is the latest volume in University of Westminster Press’Critical, Digital and Social Media Studies book series edited by Christian Fuchs.
