Further to September's Offshore Marine Monthly edition, BW Energy is progressing with the Hibiscus and Ruche Complex development with a target of first oil for first quarter 2023. As previously reported, the project includes the installation of the production platform BW MaBoMo along with approximately 20km of pipeline to connect the FPSO Adolo. The initial phase is planned to produce some 30,000 bo/d and involves the drilling of six horizontal producers. The Hermit Baron AHTS is assisting in the towage of the offshore production facility and the duo is expected to arrive on location in early October. The BW MaBoMo, formerly the jackup unit Hibiscus Alpha, has been repurposed in Lamprell yard and underwent minor outstanding upgrades offshore before heading for West Africa in late August. Vaalco Energy has confirmed that FSO Teli has been permanently moored on the Etame Complex offshore Gabon. After the arrival of the FSO in mid-August, decommissioning is underway for the replaced FPSO Petroleo Nautipa. A short-term extension has been requested by Vaalco to allow for decommissioning and demobilisation of the FPSO which has been in use since 2002. Thereafter, the commissioning and first oil of the FSO Teli is planned for first week of October 2022. The aim of replacing the FPSO with an FSO was to reduce the operating costs and thus extend the life of the fields located in the Etame Marin permit. In the new configuration, the FSO acts for storage and offloading purposes while the processing will be executed on the existing platforms (four in total within the development areas).
