It takes less than 20,000 miles of operation for thecarbon intensity of battery electric vehicles (BEVs)to fall below that of their counterparts with internalcombustion engines (ICE), according to a new life cycleanalysis comparison recently released by the FuelsInstitute in Virginia. The analysis, conducted by Ricardo Strategic Consulting, also found that BEV lifetime greenhouse gas emissions areclose to half those of ICE vehicles while the 10-year cost ofownership is nearly 16% lower for BEVs.
