The Pennsylvania Army National Guard's Eastern Area ARNG Aviation Training Site (EAATS) welcomed five upgraded UH-60Vs to Muir Army Airfield on July 27. A sixth UH-60V arrived at the base on July 31. Located on Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, Pennsylvania, the EAATS is the first unit to receive the updated helicopters and will serve as the initial training site for the newest Black Hawk model that will primarily be operated by units of the Army National Guard. The UH-60V is an upgraded version of the earlier UH-60L model and features a modernized glass cockpit that provides a Pilot-Vehicle Interface (PVI) similar to that found on the newer UH-60M. It is the first US Army aircraft to implement a modular open architecture system that will allow for easy capability upgrades and integration of plug-and-play mission systems.
