We propose a method for modeling the microstructure of 12Kh1МF steel according to the average diameter of grains in the metal with regard for the difference in grain sizes. Voronoi diagrams are used for the visual simulation of the grain structure of 12Kh1МF steel. The developed method gives the same metric characteristics of the actual and simulated images of the microstructure, namely, the averaged diameter of grains, the number of grains in the image, the histograms of grain distribution, etc. The proposed method is checked by using fractal dimensions. It is shown that the fractal dimensions of grain boundaries in the actual and simulated images differ by 1.12.
