摘要

A comprehensive study was made over a 22-year period of the velvet ants (Hymenoptera: Mutillidae) of the Leslie Canyon and San Bernardino National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) near Douglas, Arizona, and the NWR headquarters north of Douglas. Nearly 100 species in 11 genera were collected, including 8 putatively new species and 1 new sex association. Dasymutilla glycera Mickel 1928 is a junior synonym of Dasymutilla dionysia Mickel 1928. After these collections and a comparison of species present in other localities, >134 species are recognized from Cochise County, Arizona, affirming this region as a true hotspot of diversity for velvet ants.
