AIRLINES FOR America president and CEO Nicholas E Calio believes it will take "years" to fully address issues caused by 5G wireless deployment in the US. When near airports, the 5G signal has the potential to interfere with aircraft altimeters, and hundreds of flights were cancelled in the US in January this year. In a written testimony to a House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee, reported by Reuters, Calio wrote, "The process that led to this operational nightmare should be held up as a cautionary tale of government communication and co-ordination gone awry. It will likely take years, not days or weeks, to fully and permanently mitigate the interference issues caused by deployment of 5G in the C-band."
