Gamma Radiation Studies on Organic Nonlinear Optical Materials in the Energy Range 122-1330 keV

摘要

Gamma ray mass attenuation of some nonlinear optical (NLO) materials has been studied experimentally using transmission experiment in the energy range 122-1330 keV. The selected NLO materials were radiated by radioactive point sources (Co-57, Ba-133, Na-22, Cs-137 and Co-60) of strength 5 mCi. Theoretical values were calculated on the basis of mixture rule using WinXCOM program. Good agreement between theoretical and experimental values was observed. Gamma ray mass attenuation coefficient (mu(m)) values were used to determine other radiological parameters such as sigma(t,a), sigma(t,el), Z(eff) and N-eff. The behavior of mu(m) with the incident photon energy (E) has been discussed. From the obtained results, it is observed that the radiological parameters are affected severely by increasing the intensity of photon energy.
