Suction anchors (also referred to as suction caissons, suction piles or suction buckets) may be used as subsea foundations during various processes. They are used in seabeds that are sufficiently soft that a suction anchor can be forced into the seabed. In the following description of suction anchors and their use all terms that are used in the description that are relative to the gravity, for example top, bottom, up, down, upper, lower, above, depends, and similar terms, are used in the context that the suction anchor or other equipment or object is orientated for use or during use. Suction anchors typically include a top plate from which a skirt depends. The tower edge of the skirt defines an open mouth. The top plate will typically support or include a conductor housing. In some suction anchors a conductor / tailpipe depends from the conductor housing and extends towards, to, or through the open mouth. In alternative suction anchors no conductor / tailpipe depends from the conductor housing.
