摘要

Helium, represented by the chemical symbol He, is a remarkable and unique industrial gas, earning its place as the second most abundant element in the universe. Named after the Greek sun god Helios, it remains elusive and fascinating, contributing significantly to various industries and scientific research. Discovered in 1868 by French astronomer Pierre Janssen during a solar eclipse, helium remained a mystery until its presence was confirmed on Earth by Scottish chemist Sir William Ramsay in 1895. It is a colourless, odourless, and tasteless gas, possessing the lowest boiling point of any element. Due to its extremely low density, helium is non-flammable and non-toxic, making it ideal for a range of applications.
