During an epic High Plains blizzard, Combat Aircraft Journal special contributor Jeff Bolton spent a week embedded with the USAF's 34th Bomb Squadron 'Thunderbirds' at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota where they fly the B-1B bomber. Recently upgraded, wickedly lethal, and more combat capable than any time in its history, the B-1B is rapidly setting new higher standards for precision Long Range Strike and Bomber Task Force missions while paving the way for the B-21 Raider.
