US industry insiders are planning to make their sales pitch to EU energy commissioner Kadri Simson, who will visit Washington for a meeting of the US-EU Energy Council on 7 February. Simson and EU foreign afairs commissioner Josep Borrell will meet their US counterparts as Washington has engaged LNG producers in the US and abroad to discuss covering a potential shortfall in Europe’s natural gas imports from Russia if the Ukraine crisis takes a turn for the worse.
