Phragmipedium schlimii is a new world slipper orchid with an impressive distribution area, ranging from the Ecuadorian border in the southwest, through Colombia to the border with Venezuela in the northeast. Phrag. schlimii is a broadly defined and highly variable species with flowers that continue to develop after anthesis. The past twenty-five years have seen a rapid accumulation of new scientific names around this species. Attempting to account for the natural variation across multiple taxonomic characteristics, four species and three natural hybrids have been proposed. The accumulation of scientific names, however, may not be due to the discovery of new taxa, but to the elevation of variations of Phrag. schlimii to species status. A closer lookat the formal descriptions and comparison with plants from natural populations is therefore warranted. In the first part of this study, the status of Phrag. fischeri was analyzed and discussed. In this second and final part, the author scrutinizes the status of Phrag. andreettae, Phrag. anguloi, Phrag. manzurii, Phrag. x daguense, Phrag. x narinense, and Phrag. x colombianum. All names are concluded to fall well within the natural variation of Phrag. schlimii. Phrag. manzurii and Phrag. andreettae are retained as forms: Phragmipedium schlimii f. manzurii and Phragmipedium schlimii f. andreettae. All other names represent only synonyms of this widely distributed and highly variable species.
