Boot lid fit

I have been making a number of repairs to the body of my 1972 Mini and have bought and fitted a used boot lid, from a much later car, to replace the dented one. The panel gap now is much wider along the top of the lid in the centre than it is at the sides. Have I bought a non-genuine boot lid?
