Recycling of aluminium window extrusions: the most upto-date sorting technology returns alloys sorted by type

At the end of February 2015 Hydro took over WMR Recycling GmbH in Dormagen, which has the most up-to-date, partly patented aluminium scrap sorting technology. The company, now trading under the name Hydro Aluminium Recycling Deutschland GmbH, processes around 36,000 tonnes of used aluminium per year with the help of X-ray transmission and other sorting methods. This material consists mainly of old window frames from the building sector.
