Indian ferroalloy prices fell marginally, even as input costs kept rising, because supply outpaced demand. Material availability also increased in the domestic markets as smelter production ramped up in Andhra and Telangana regions. For instance, Nava Limited, based in Telangana, converted their ferrochrome plant to produce silicomanganese in December 2022, adding a capacity of 50 kt per annum. Similarly, Sarda Energy and Minerals Limited added new manganese alloy capacity of 45 kt per annum during December 2022 to their existing plant in Visakhapatnam, in the Andhra region. Previously, the plant was predominantly catering to export markets. These new capacities which have started operating this year improved the material availability and put pressure on prices.
