Wideband designs of proximity fed isosceles triangular microstrip antennas gap‐coupled with pairs of sectoral patches are proposed. Bandwidth enhancement is due to the gap‐coupling between the fundamental modes of the fed and parasitic patches, which are placed in an empty area around the fed patch. Amongst all the variations, 80° isosceles triangular microstrip antenna gap‐coupled with three pairs of sectoral patches yields maximum bandwidth of around 800 MHz (~55) with a peak gain of 9 dBi. Furthermore, the resonance frequency formulation against varying angles in isosceles triangular microstrip antenna and subsequent design methodology is presented. This is useful in re‐designing the similar wideband design for any angle in the isosceles triangular patch and at the specific fundamental mode frequency.
