IMF raises China GDP forecast after Covid pivot

The IMF has revised up its forecast for China’s economic growth this year after Beijing ended its zero-Covid policies and started to reopen the economy. China’s GDP is now projected to expand by 5.2pc in 2023, the IMF said in an update to its World Economic Outlook pub-lished late on 30 January, up by 0.8pc from the IMF’s previous forecast made in October.
