Chinese thermal coal imports rose in October from a year ear-lier, as some utilities started restocking for winter and fresh Covid-19 outbreaks curbed the country’s domestic coal output. China’s imports of thermal coal-including non-coking bitu-minous coal, sub-bituminous coal and lignite-totalled 22.3mn t in October, up from 21.8mn t a year earlier but down from 25.4mn t in September, customs data show.
