ARA coal stocks steady, Rhine outlook improves

Coal stocks at the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) transshipment hub were relatively stable this week as higher seaborne arrivals and constricted barging conditions offset firm coal-fired generation in the region. Thermal coal inventories at Rotterdam's EMO terminal rose on the week by 10,000t to 3.9mn t, while stocks at the OBA terminal remained unchanged at 1.95mn t. But coal stocks at Ovet and EBS terminals fell from a week earlier by 71,000t and 1,000t, respectively, to 379,000t and 136,000t.
