Various states, public interest organizations and clean energy tradegroups called on the Midcontinent Independent System Operator tomove up its target date for implementing a Federal Energy RegulatoryCommission directive aimed at better integrating distributed energyresource aggregations into the wholesale market.In 2020, FERC directed grid operators to remove barriers hinderingaggregations of distributed energy resources – small-scale generatorsand storage technologies – from participating in wholesale powermarkets with traditional generation (RM18-9). The commission did notset an implementation date for tariff revisions needed to carry out FERCOrder 2222 but told grid operators to offer a reasonable timeframe.
