Marta Dias Barcelos, PhD, is a researcher at the Centre for the Humanities, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal. She is a visiting researcher at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Georgetown University, where she is conducting a postdoctoral project focused on the role of autonomy in public health issues, supported by the Luso-American Development Foundation. Her research is primarily in ethical theory, specifically on the foundations and epistemology of bioethics, and ethics of transplantation.Laura Guidry-Grimes, PhD, HEC-C is an Associate Staff Bioethicist at the Cleveland Clinic and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Her primary interests are disability bioethics, psychiatric ethics, and how to address the ways in which patients are rendered vulnerable in clinical environments.David Wendler is a philosopher trained in philosophy of science, and metaphysics and epistemology. He is currently a tenured senior investigator and head of research ethics in the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health. His work focuses on the ethics of clinical research and clinical care with individuals who cannot consent.
