The article identifies Washington's priorities in the process of implementing its policy towards Turkey in the context of the Ukrainian crisis. It analyzes the ways and means for the increased interest in Ukraine coming from both the United States and Turkey. In the last two decades, Turkey has gained its foreign policy independence, allowing to assert itself as a leading country in Eurasia. A new political alignment on the international arena, caused by the current weakening of the US positions, contributed to Turkish search for new allies on the post-Soviet space in order to strengthen its influence both in this area and throughout the world. Thus, Ukraine which has become of great importance both for Western countries in general and the United States in particular turned into one of these allies. In the situation of the severe competition for global influence Ukraine has become one of the key priorities of the post-Soviet countries, capable of providing desirable access to the Black Sea with its importance growing from day to day in the current situation and building suitable logistics there in order to establish a closer link for connecting Europe with Asia. Meanwhile, Turkey's intention to become one of the world's key powers will depend not only on the implementation of Ankara's ambitious policy in Ukraine, but also on the US position, which can be adjusted to Turkey's rapidly growing independence.
