Purpose of Study To systematically review the literature on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of acute lateral ankle injuries and their long-term effects in child and adolescent athletes. Approach Original research articles relating to lateral ankle sprains or distal fibula fractures in patients under 19 years, published in the English language between September and December 2018 with levels of evidence I to IV, were systematically reviewed according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines using Google Scholar.
